Giffords New Mexico Coalition Responds to the Shooting at Aztec High School in San Juan County

December 7, 2017 — Today, the Giffords New Mexico Coalition, a group launched in partnership with Giffords, the gun violence prevention group founded by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, reacted to the shooting at Aztec High School in San Juan County:

“The last thing our children should fear is the sound of gunfire in their schools. My heart is with all the students, their families, teachers and the first responders impacted by the horrific event that took place at Aztec High School this morning,” said Don Schreiber, Owner, Devil’s Spring Ranch. “The shooting this morning is the latest example of the daily toll the gun violence crisis is having on our nation. A crisis that is long overdue for urgent action.  As a lifelong gun owner, I was in Washington DC yesterday, calling on our leaders to stop weakening our gun laws and instead take action to save lives. If we’re serious about protecting our children and families, we need leaders with the courage to prioritize public safety before the interest of the gun industry. It’s time to take action.”
